Medical Unit Bralostita

Medical Unit Bralostita
This series of photos shows the progress of the newest and smallest medical unit instigated by Dr Adrian Gheorghe. It is located in Bralostita, about 10 km south of Filiaşi, on the right bank of the Jiu, on the other side from Filiaşi.

First he bought the land shown here (about 10 x 20m) with about $200 USD, in the middle of the village of Bralostita.

Medical Unit Bralostita
This medical unit was designed and built and paid for by Adrian Gheorghe and cost about $3 000 USD.

As shown here, Dr Gheorghe and his nurses set to work to clear the land, and get it ready for the next stage.

Medical Unit Bralostita
It was built in 2001-2002 and Dr Gheorghe gave it at no charge for 10 years to a young doctor, Dr Marinca Lorena, for medical services to about 1,000 patients.

This photograph shows volunteers digging the foundations of the building.

Medical Unit Bralostita
The building measures about 7x7 m and has 3 rooms, a waiting room, a consulting room and a treatments room.

Here volunteers are pouring the concrete for the foundations of the building, after building the wooden form work.

Here the walls begin to rise, aided by Alexandru, Adrian's son!

At last the roof beams are added, and the building takes on a form where the finished product can be imagined.

With the roof on, progress can now be made on the interior walls and fittings.

At last it is finished, with the old car of the medical unit at the front of the building.

The centre has a doctor and a nurse who service one part of the village. There are in Bralostita 2 doctors for about 3 000 residents.
