Romania is a wonderful country

Sunset
At the end of the day, after long and hard work in the Vogna area, crossing the hills from Amaradia river valley to Jiu river valley, you can see this beautiful sun going to sleep, over the Filiasi town area, looking to the west, from the top of the hills.

At midnight at the start of the new year of 2013, Adrian was in the centre of Craiova, and took these beautiful photos of floodlit buildings and the people in the middle of the town.
Here we may see the University, the Town Hall, and an important church in the middle of the town.

The Southern Carpathian Mountains are just 80 kilometres away, and are a magnificent sight when the air is clear.

The Carpathian Mountains are a range of mountains forming an arc roughly 1 500 km (932 mi) long across Central and Eastern Europe, making them the second-longest mountain range in Europe. They provide the habitat for the largest European populations of brown bears, wolves, chamois and lynxes, with the highest concentration in Romania, as well as over one third of all European plant species

In the early spring morning, from the hills around Filiasi, there are often huge clouds of fog exiting from the rivers of Oltenia, such as the Jiu and the Amaradia, when the weather is cold and the waters are warm.

It has been a hard winter, and it is not often that there is this much ice on the Danube.

Close to shore, it was even possible to walk on the ice, a rare event.

Adrian was at the Iron Gates with a group of Bulgarian Journalists coming to Romania to visit some important churches and historical monuments from Dolj and Mehedinti counties.
The project was managed by Miss Gabriela Antonova, from Perpetuum Mobile foundation from Pleven, Bulgaria, and also a partner for the Alexis Project

Early in the morning, on a rainy and foggy day, in the Desa area, on the left bank of the Danube River, you can see far away, looking to Bulgaria, the Balkan Mountains on the horizon. It is not often that you can get even a glimpse of these far distant peaks.

The beautiful Parang Mountains on the horizon.

This is a zoomed shot of the Parang Mountains wrapped in snow and clouds on a cold November morning, from the hills above Fratostita village, near Filiasi town, looking to the north, where the southern Carpathians mountains are, of which the Parang Mountains are a part.
The Parang Mountains are about 80 km to the north of this point, and such a clear shot is very difficult to get, when the weather has been foggy, cold and cloudy.
