Gighera - Tourist Destination
In Gighera village, Dolj county, there are a few very important tourist destinations, including camping facilities and hot mineral springs.

As well, there is forestry and camping on the left bank of the Jiu River.

Gighera - Zaval Revisited
In the southern part of Dolj County, on the left bank of the Jiu RIver, in Gighera village, there is a beautiful forest place called Zaval, where a lot of tourists come.

In the beginning, it was a wonderful recreation area, but it was abandoned after some time.

Today it seems that the place has been rejuvenated, and in a very good way, so that tourists are once more coming there to spend a weekend, and to continue a Romanian folk tradition.

Gighera - Zaval, a Ghost Project
There are a number of EU cross-border projects promoting tourism themes, showing Gighera - Zaval as being a beautiful place to attract tourists.

It is situated on the bank of the Jiu River, not far from the Danube River, near a beautiful wild forest, with wooden cabins for tourists and many other facilities, but today the area is a ghost village, with damp houses, burnt terraces, not protected, not promoted, empty, waiting for the future that it deserves………
