The church is very old, possibly from the 1700s, an unknown ghost church. The walls are not in a hopeless condition, but the roof should have been replaced long ago, and the church is now open to the sky in most places.

Many churches like this are lying in bad repair, even destroyed, in the whole Oltenia area.

The church was originally one of the famous traditional Romanian painted churches, but all of the paintings are now being destroyed by neglect and the weather, which is no longer kept out by the roof.

Romania has many such treasures all around, but they have been allowed to decay.
