Melinesti Church, Oltenia, Romania
One kilometre west of Melinesti village, Dolj County, Adrian and Alina found a new and very interesting church, built about 1980 with the name "Sf.imparati Constantin si Elena". The church is at the GPS point 44.594948N 23.686066E.

The church has a secondary door, in the left wall. In small churches, there is often a main entrance door for the parishioners, and a second one used when leaving the church.

At the front of the church, in the area called the Pridvor, there are paintings of a lion's head, the head of a cow, the head of a hawk, and the head of an angel. Adrian has never seen such images painted on the walls of any church, and the significance of the grouping of cow, lion, hawk and angel is unknown.

As in many places in Oltenia, a lot of wooden crosses are placed near a small river, in this case at the entrance to the church yard, near a small wooden bridge, in remembrance of loved ones, as a symbol of crossing the Styx, from ancient Greek mythology.
