Fossiliferous site of Bradesti - Meteu
The site which is estimated to be 3 500 000 years old is at the entrance to the village of Meteu, on the right part of the way, to the north, behind a source of water called "fintina lui Buliga", on a small hill as shown in the photo.
The village Meteu is north west of the small town of Bradesti, about 11.5 km from Filiaşi, in the valey of Jiu river.
The site is partially covered by water-borne deposition from the hill behind.
The fossils are identical to the Bilta fossils.
In the middle of the small village of Meteu is an abandoned church, a very old one. Today the village has no church, just a very old cemetery on the way out of it.

In the old cemetery of Meteu, the wooden crosses have a stick near them with three pieces of iron on top of it. This has two possible meanings. A priest would say that the iron pieces are meant to represent the nails from Jesus' Cross, but other specialists say that these pieces of iron are for fixing the soul of the dead person, to keep the vampires from his grave.
Also can be seen a piece of shirt wound around the cross, said by priests to be a part of Jesus' shirt, but again, specialists have a different version. They say that the cloth has an apotropaic function, that is, it is there to keep away devils.
