The valley is very long, starting from the Jiu left bank to the hills, to the north, over the main road from Filiaşi to Craiova, about 4 to 5 km long, and over 2 km wide, formed by clay hills and small forests.

In the upper part of the Valea Rea, the Alexis Team has found a fossiliferous site on an eroded hill, not so large as Bîlta Village, but important even so.

Also in the upper part of the Valea Rea, there is an ancient fortress, in which area the Alexis Team found a few artefacts to be sent to the specialists from the Oltenia Museum to study. In addition, the Team has recorded GPS points for this area and the entire valley.
