Alexandru came home to Oltenia to see how the Vogna 2013 Project ended up this year. He checked all the structures carefully, and was satisfied with all the improvements made to complete the work of the students.

He tested all the construction, and was happy with the wooden crane!

Vogna Student Camp - Completion of the Project, ready for winter

Adrian is very fortunate to have the help of the Negutz family, Ionutz, Amelia, and Maria-Amelia.

Together they put the plastic protection over the roof of the wooden structure made by the students, as well as a few other improvements to end the project for the year.

The fireplace is a great addition to the structure, allowing for some delicious sausages to be grilled on an old piece of metal for a good meal!

This is a very useful structure, and will allow for more projects to be completed at Vogna in comfort and safety at the site.

Vogna Student Camp - Architectural Drawings of the Workshop

Vogna Architecture models and drawings

Vogna Architecture models and drawings

Alexandru has made architectural drawings of the plan as first envisaged, as well as some excellent 3D models which took many hours to create.

Here we can see how faithfully the whole structure adhered to its original plans and drawings.

The creation of such 3D models is standard procedure at the Architecture University which Alexandru attends, as part of the project for any building, for a better understanding of it in terms of volumetry, sunlight exposure, surroundings etc.

Alexandru talked with some of his friends who were involved in the camp, who gave valuable suggestions for improvements to the presentation of this wonderful project.

When Alexandru finished the drawings and 3D presentation to his and his friends' satisfaction, with important input from his father, Adrian, he made it available for the website.

The whole project to create a workshop on the Vogna site has been a very valuable experience for Alexandru, his fellow students at University, and for Adrian and his friends who have helped to make this project such a huge success.

Alexandru also made accurate drawings of the project as completed, so that comparisons could be made with the dream and the reality. The verdict is 'close enough!'

Vogna Student Camp - The Aftermath!

Vogna Architecture students Vogna Architecture students

After the student camp at the Vogna Project was ended, there was still a lot to do to improve the wooden structure, with the important help of Ionutz Negutz, our best friend.

In particular, the roof needs to be finished before winter comes, and other materials must be found and used in order to finish the project.

It is not easy, it takes a lot of effort and money, but Adrian is indefatigable in his pursuit of creating good resources for his country.

Vogna Student Camp - Day Five

Vogna Architecture students Vogna Architecture students

On the last day, the students worked hard to complete as much as possible of the project in the time available. They did a good job of improving the roof of the Bordei.

The students also made a fireplace inside the wooden structure to provide warmth and light.

Vogna Student Camp - Day Four

Early in the morning of day four the hill was climbed to get this photograph, looking to the south, from the northern hills around the Vogna site.

Looking to the east from the western hills around the Vogna site we get this bird's eye view of the Vogna Church and the wooden structure now taking shape.

Once the sides of the structure are filled in, it is much easier to see the progress being made. Structures look quite small when just the foundations are laid, but become far more impressive, inside and out, once the walls are up.

Vogna Student Camp - Day Three

Vogna Architecture students

On day three a wooden workshop was designed and the work was put in hand as Adrian has seen in Gorna Malina, Bulgaria. This Vogna Project is using the very successful Gorna Malina Project as a model.

Even as the light fails, the students continue to work with great motivation to complete the structure.

On day two the students at the Camp at the Vogna Cultural Site, where the Alexis Project is making a private project, with its own resources, are unloading wooden materials to use in the project.

Here Georgia took a beautiful general view of the Vogna Cultural site, full of students, eight in all from all over Romania.

On this day we had important visitors, the Mayor of Goiesti, the Mayor of Melinesti (near Goiesti Municipality), a Senator of the Romanian Parliament, and others.

A part of the structure is now put into position by the students, who, coming from learning theory at the University of Bucharest, are now meeting here practice in real terms, as part of the improvement of their knowledge.

As always, later in the evening is time for dinner and socialisation around the fire.

At this point, the project is working well. We believe that the total cost of the project, payment for student travel, food, other supplies, and wooden materials, will be over 1000 Euros, which is not as much as, usually, the cost of even a small project for youth is!

Vogna Student Camp - Day One

Vogna Architecture students

Here we are beginning the preparations for the camp, taking all the things needed from Craiova, Racari, Filiasi, Bilta, to complete the logistics for the camp. Here, in Bilta village, Alexandru and Georgia are trying to put the luggage in the car for the trip to the Vogna camp, a difficult task!
